The 22nd season of the Madison Area Scratch Tour kicked off on Sunday at Badger Bowl. Scott Olson won his first career Madison Area Scratch Tour tournament with a decisive 279-246 over Mike Hoffman. Olson started the title match with four strikes while Hoffman began spare, spare, double. Both ran strikes through the eighth frame, shaping up for a repeat of the 279 tie in the 2007 Badger final between Gregg Williams and Eric Fritton.

In the ninth and 10th frames, Hoffman left three consecutive seven pins, posting a 246. Olson only needed a mark for the his first victory. Olson won $600.00, Hoffman $300.00 for second.

Andy Mills of Onalaska was the high qualifier with a 969 set. He lasted to the semi-finals where he lost to Olson 225-210. Mills received 25 bonus points for leading the event.

The tournament was sponsored by Midas of Madison for $300. In addition, Badger Bowl offered a reduced lineage rebate that totaled $122.00.

Badger Pro Shop donated five bowling balls for raffle, generating $160 more for the prize fund. Tournament runner up Mike Hoffman won the "ball of choice" from the pro shop. Tournament champion Scott Olson and Kyle Sullivan each won one of the four plastic bowling balls. Thomas Rogers won the other two.

The four donations plastic ball donations were in promotion of the upcoming Plastic Classic tournament to be held at Badger Bowl the day after Thanksgiving.
